Manager State and Local Tax

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Tax Manager to join us in our Stamford office.

KPMG’s State and Local Tax (SALT) practice needs more members for their Income Franchise team. KPMG's SALT practice assists clients as they work to reduce their tax liabilities and enhance the bottom line. As a national practice, SALT is committed to bringing some of the best professionals to each engagement and providing dynamic tax services to clients.

Responsibilities:

• Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies
• Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies including preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing the client at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests
• Participate in tax planning
• Research and draft technical memoranda regarding income and franchise tax questions
• Supervise, mentor, and develop staff


Qualifications:

• Five years of experience at a law firm, certified public accounting firm, government firm or industry experience
• Solid income and franchise tax skills
• Strong writing, communication, and tax research skills
• Project and team management experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university and a CPA, Master’s degree in Tax from an accredited college/university, or law degree from an accredited college/university
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in state and local tax income/franchise taxation
