Job Description: KPMG’s Advisory Services Practice focuses on fundamental business issues — managing risk, increasing revenues, controlling costs — that organizations, across various industries, should address in order to help them flourish. We help companies to identify and manage risks inherent in business processes and technology systems that support business objectives, and provide them with the information needed to help them meet their strategic and financial goals. Services are specialized to help clients mitigate risks across an overall risk spectrum. We are currently seeking a Senior Associate to join us in our Tyson’s Corner office.Financial Risk Management (FRM) professionals help management and boards of directors to identify, measure, and monitor financial and business risks, the relationships between risks and returns, and the control environment over the management and reporting of these risks. In the very complex world of financial instruments, FRM professionals have assisted in valuation approaches, stress testing, model development and risk rating, and measurement approaches to help management leverage the leading practices in risk identification and measurement. Credit Risk provides a full range of wholesale and consumer credit risk management and operational improvement services to assist clients in identifying potential risks and opportunities. The credit risk team has deep industry experience in credit policies, services, measurement, processes, collections, models, and reporting within the credit cycle.Responsibilities:• Perform financial risk management advisory and audit engagements related to financial instrument valuations and cash flow modeling including fixed income, structured products, technical accounting applications and whole loan portfolios• Analyze and assess risk management activities related to investment portfolios, liquidity sources, accounting changes and new regulation• Review, validate, and develop financial cash flow models including whole loans, mortgage and asset-backed securities, credit default swap, option models, alternative equity investment, CDO/CLOs, auction rate securities, residual assets, mortgage-servicing assets, and CMBS• Review operational risk management and internal control policies and procedures• Perform compliance testing related to various client financing agreements with Investment Banks, regulators, government agencies, and investors• Perform detailed analysis on securitized collateral pools in securitization transactions• Assist in advisory engagements related to mortgage banking, commercial banking, insurance, consumer lending, and servicing operationsQualifications:• Advanced degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or a related major from an accredited college/university.• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the Financial Services industry, structured finance, mortgage banking, corporate finance, or advisory services or a minimum of 5 years in fixed income analysis.• Strong understanding of financial products : fixed income, discounted cash flow valuations, credit and interest rate risk hedging and pricing of various financial instruments.• Desired software skills include Advanced Excel, Visual Basic, Access, SQL• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills• Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills• Progressive experience leading teams and managing projects• Programming and modeling experience related to structured finance is required, particularly Intex or Imake modeling tools• Valuations of financial instruments• Middle office, accounting and risk management skills with financial products• Prior consulting or advanced project management experience• CFA, CFA Candidates, certified CPA, and/or MBA are preferred KPMG offers and supports flexible work arrangements as well as part-time schedules.
